Update on Catechism Services

Tomorrow we'll celebrate our 5th Catechism Service - and we'll focus on the second half of the First Article. These multi-generational services have gone very well. The Service of Prayer and Preaching takes a bit of getting used to (the canticles are SO modern), but I think we're getting it down. So far it's been a really neat mix of adults and kids, and always the conversation over the reading has led us down interesting paths and offered insights into the mystery of the faith. There's something so great about not only gathering to read and study, but to sing praises and intercede. I am more convinced than ever that those old Lutherans knew what they were up to designating Sunday afternoon/evening for the catechism in public worship, and I am very grateful to the framers of LSB for providing just the perfect setting for this.
