...since I showed his artwork halfway finished, I should show the final product. So here it is (hanging in the basement and NOT on my chair! :)

Abraham!...Isaac...sheep...angel?
I think.

Most artists put a bit of themselves in their work. I can see David in the face of Isaac.
Nice work!

I'm no art critic, not qualified to make remarks like this, but that never has stopped me before: I believe David has an amazing and rare talent. Seriously. I am not trying to flatter or "be nice" or anything like that. I sure hope you are doing everything possible to encourage it!

The boy's got serious game! Hopefully the Lutheran iconoclasts won't discourage him. Get him to paint on some blank walls post haste!

(If you're lacking any, he can come over on work on our white-walled tribute to Calvinism.)

Thanks, folks, for the kind comments. I happen to agree and we do encourage him. You gulp a bit when asked what his major is and you say: "Art." But I don't think he has a choice. He's got to use the gift somehow, someway. It amazes me how swiftly he produces his work too - doesn't take long for a work to appear.

What I never realized about his charcoal is the alteration he made in the original. The angel's hands are not staying Abraham, but urging them on. He told me it's a statement about abortion. Okay, whatever. I'll NEVER get art!
